Dolly and Dotty first caught my eye at London Edge. Their signature bold prints and dress styles that are inspired by the 50’s and 60’s instantly lured me over to their stand. It was great to have the opportunity to browse all of their range and it was certainly one of the most colourful collections at London Edge!
This Brighton born company prides itself on adapting vintage patterns to meet modern body shapes. With the distinct rise in demand for wearable vintage and vintage inspired items (everyone’s got a retro outfit these days I swear?) I think Dolly and Dotty have arrived into the scene at the right time.
Without further ado, here is my review of the Annie Retro Check Swing Dress. Firstly, look at that colour and pattern combination! I am so glad that Dolly and Dotty approached me for a blog collaboration as it enabled me to choose something a bit different. After a very long consideration period I decided to select the slightly risky combination of a bright green coloured number, teamed with an iconic print. Possibly the loudest choice on the Dolly and Dotty website, it is definitely amongst my favourites!
I was so excited to unwrap the dress and as you’ll hopefully agree the Annie swing dress suits me wickedly.
I love the simple tea dress style, which keeps the pattern a focus point and doesn’t make the dress too overpowering. Although a little tight around my chest I really like the nipped in waist that compliments the full and lined circle skirt. The dress is also a good length to accommodate a petticoat, as demonstrated in the photos, but I can also confirm it looks just as lovely and only slightly less full without!
Quality really appears to have been a priority for Dolly and Dotty, which is always great, especially as this seems to be compromised with some repro brands. I also liked the matching belt and surprise headscarf that were included in the package. The material feels great and easily survived my trek over the fields, which is a testament to this dress for sure! I can’t wait to take this gorgeous dress out for tea 😉
