Dolly and Dotty first caught my eye at London Edge. Their signature bold prints and dress styles that are inspired by the 50’s and 60’s instantly lured me over to their stand. It was great to have the opportunity to browse all of their range and it was certainly one of the most colourful collections at London Edge!

This Brighton born company prides itself on adapting vintage patterns to meet modern body shapes. With the distinct rise in demand for wearable vintage and vintage inspired items (everyone’s got a retro outfit these days I swear?) I think Dolly and Dotty have arrived into the scene at the right time.

Without further ado, here is my review of the Annie Retro Check Swing Dress. Firstly, look at that colour and pattern combination! I am so glad that Dolly and Dotty approached me for a blog collaboration as it enabled me to choose something a bit different. After a very long consideration period I decided to select the slightly risky combination of a bright green coloured number, teamed with an iconic print. Possibly the loudest choice on the Dolly and Dotty website, it is definitely amongst my favourites!

I was so excited to unwrap the dress and as you’ll hopefully agree the Annie swing dress suits me wickedly.

I love the simple tea dress style, which keeps the pattern a focus point and doesn’t make the dress too overpowering. Although a little tight around my chest I really like the nipped in waist that compliments the full and lined circle skirt. The dress is also a good length to accommodate a petticoat, as demonstrated in the photos, but I can also confirm it looks just as lovely and only slightly less full without!

Quality really appears to have been a priority for Dolly and Dotty, which is always great, especially as this seems to be compromised with some repro brands. I also liked the matching belt and surprise headscarf that were included in the package. The material feels great and easily survived my trek over the fields, which is a testament to this dress for sure! I can’t wait to take this gorgeous dress out for tea 😉

I’ll keep this post short and sweet, I really like the Voodoo Vixen Suzanne Dress. It’s fun and flirty and possibly patriotic, if worn on Remembrance Sunday or then again maybe it’s patriotic even if you wear it on another day. When I wore it to work I was informed I was too late for the poppy appeal… Haa haa.

I’ve always had a thing for houndstooth and I was glad to see that Voodoo Vixen had a lot of this pattern in their Autumn Winter range 2015. What makes the Suzanne dress stand out then, is the poppies that interrupt the black and white print with their startling red. The bright red also means that the dress isn’t limited to the Autumn and Winter seasons, especially as the centre of the flowers looks a bit like purple butterfly wings – cute detail!

The dress’ skirt lives up to Voodoo Vixen’s typical full bodied approach and I really like the cut of the sleeves and neck line. It appears to play on the idea of petals with the scooped detail, or that’s what my fancy Media degree full of pondering ‘what connotations does that have’ essays have taught me. The material feels great and totally sturdy, ready to do battle with my clumsy self. The matching belt is also a great addition and looks much more long lasting than one of the belts I received with a dress from a previous Voodoo Vixen Collection.

All in all a great dress that I imagine would suit most body types. With the nipped in waist, it gave me a perfect hourglass shaped figure – I can’t wait to wear my new red petticoat under it.

Not into big skirts? The print is also on the Eloise, a fab figure hugging number so that you can wiggle to your hearts content 😉

Looking for something stylish? Oh my, release your inner vixen with Glitter and the Moon! As over the top as that may sound, the soft and silky material of the Burlesque Cocktails Robe really does make me feel sexy.

I embraced my natural paleness and opted for the rich cream robe as it really evoked the feelings of old Hollywood glamour for me – something I am quite happy to try and emulate. Sure enough once it was on, I was posing around my flat; whether I pulled off a sultry siren look or not I’ll leave to your imagination.

Although I love that the length is great for my tall height (no ankle swingers here) and that the three quarter length sleeve makes it a more practical wear than it looks; it was the embellishments that made me most excited about this robe. I feel like I should name my tipsy embroidered lady, as she is just fabulous. A glittering showgirl for sure; I think she captures the feeling I have when I wear the robe perfectly. I like that the website states ‘unleash your inner Dita von Tease,’ something I definitely went for with this shoot. The robe makes me feel powerful but with a distinctly cheeky edge. The ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like cocktails’ stitching, really completes this Glitter and the Moon robe.

One comment I can’t skirt around is the price. At £125.00 this is very much a luxury item. If luxury is something you are looking for, then Glitter and the Moon exceed that brief easily. This special edition robe is glamorous and made my time shooting with it easy. It brings out your inner siren (no matter how hidden away) in a way that a huge fluffy gown couldn’t even dream of.

Glitter and the Moon are a great new brand, who live up to the phrase ‘it’s all in the details.’ From the cheeky pinup embroidery to the hand stitched sequins and beads… do I really need to go on?

In short, Glitter and the Moon are the best if you are looking for luxurious loungewear that can also be personalised. Don’t need a robe? Why not check out the more affordable French Knickers or Bed Jackets, which are equally as gorgeous.
